How do you get your crock pot to automatically shut off and stay on warm until you get home?

I would like to get a crock pot due to the convenience however, I've noticed most recipes call for 6-8 hours of cooking time while I don't get home until after 9 hours. Will the food being cooked just be over-cooked?
